Dog days

It's so hot and my AC went out.  I just had a brand new unit installed less than 3 years ago and it died.  These things are supposed to last for years.  Ugh.  The guy that installed my last unit retired so I had to find a new guy.  I called Harris heat and air and in walked Grant.  I've known Grant for YEARS.  I'm glad that it was somebody that I knew because if a random new AC guy would have told me that I needed another brand new unit this soon, I would have laughed in his face and said, "there is no way that I'm buying another new AC unit."  But today, since I know the guy, I bought a new AC unit.  Also, it's blistering hot outside.  Two nights without AC means two nights without sleep in this heat.  I also had my new fridge delivered today.  One new fridge and one new AC unit equals one broke teacher.   The fridge had been leaking for months and then decided to stop making ice.  I need ice people.  Especially when it is this hot out.  The minute the ice machine quit, I was done.

Tonight, I'm going to be an usher for The Little Shop of Horrors play on campus.  I've never done this before, so I'm excited.  My niece was in drama last year, so I asked her to go with me.  She had just watched the original 1960's film with my mom, so she said yes!  We get to watch the performance, too!   Should be a lot of fun.  I asked Henry to go, but he would rather play on his Xbox.  He doesn't know what he's missing.

He did let me take his picture last week though.  He hates it.  As you can see in the photo, he is looking away.  He did give consent, I promise.  He does NOT know that it is being published here.  I remember him begging me to take his picture when he was little. I never dreamed that it would be like this, or I would have taken a million more of him!  They are going to be seniors this year and I am so not ready for this.  They have refused to get senior pictures taken.  I already asked Jennifer to take them because she did Harrison's and I THOUGHT, they would love that.  Nope.  :(

I applied to be an online teacher through VIP Kid.  My good friend Katie D. has been doing it for about a year now and talked me into it.  The mock interviews were kind of tough.  I thought about giving up, but persevered.  Now that I'm in, it's kind of strange.  The parents can click on my profile and watch my intro video and look at my pictures and decide if I will be a good match for their kiddo.  I have to learn how to sell myself.  I don't know about this.  I opened up about 40 available slots and haven't been chosen yet.  I need someone to choose me soon because I need to pay for my new cold air.
