Green Lantern

I went to the movies today with 7 little boys and a friend.  The boys were all sitting in the front row and my friend and I were way in the back.  We watched all the previews and the movie was just about to start and then the power went out.  It went black in the theatre and I was so afraid that my boys (Henry) would start screaming and freaking out, but they (he) didn’t.  The emergency light came on in the corner and we all just sat there wondering what to do.  After several minutes, the movie girl came in and announced that the power was out and it would probably be awhile before it came back on.

We had some ticked off little boys, but we got re-admit tickets and made plans to come back one day next week.  I’ve never been in a movie theatre when the power went out.  It was kind of weird.  I guess I’ll be watching the Green Lantern next week.

camp

Harrison came home from WyldLife camp tonight.  And guess what?  He got a freakin manicure while he was there!  I really don’t even want a manicure.  I desperately need a pedicure though!

My sleep patterns are officially out of whack.  I took a nap yesterday and I was up until 4:30 am last night.  Not cool!  So, of course, I took another nap today.  I’ve also been doing a lot of dreaming lately. Dreaming equals stress leaving my body, but I don’t think it counts when I’m dreaming about work.

Wednesday

So, um, it’s Wednesday.  I’m not exactly keeping track of what day it is anymore.

I’m finding out that I don’t watch very many movies.  I thought I did, but I don’t.  I did watch a movie the other night.  I couldn’t sleep, so I picked a movie from Netflix that I thought would be boring and put me to sleep.  I watched Chasing Amy.  Harrison was a year old when this movie came out.  (1997)

It’s about a guy that falls in love with a girl.  He finds out that she has a shady sexual history and even though he is completely in love with her, he can’t stop thinking about it.  He confronts her and things go downhill from there.  Ben Affleck does a nice job playing his part.  The girl is a little annoying, but overall I enjoyed it.

Hair

I have been begging Henry to cut his hair for months.  I don’t mind long hair, but when I have to comb it, I get cranky.  I have really short hair because I don’t want to spend time doing my hair in the morning or at any other time during the day.  He claims that he doesn’t know how to comb his hair.

This is what I’ve had to wake up to some mornings.

He looks ticked off in the picture because he said, I hurt his head when I combed his hair.  YES, this is what it looked like AFTER I spent 10 minutes combing it.

This is what he looked like before I combed it….

So, after hours of begging him and finally convincing him that his hair would grow back out by hockey season, he said yes and I drove as fast as I could to the shop.

I nicknamed him High-Maintenance Henry a long time ago.  I think I did the right thing.

Woody

Henry found his old Woody costume today.  I bought it for him when he was almost 2.  Here he is wearing it back in 2003.

He paraded around the house with it on for about an hour.  Then, he wanted me to take his picture!  My pleasure, I said!  Fast forward 8 years……

This kid is crazy.

Bloomington

It’s a little bit crazy in our town right now.  There are three different cases of stabbings in the paper today and Lauren is still missing.  I don’t know what’s going on, but this place is stressing me out.  I have lived in Bloomington most of my life and I have never felt unsafe, but now I feel the need to keep my children close to me and I do not like that feeling.

I know it’s not Wednesday, but I did finally get to watch a movie in JUNE.  I watched it this morning to relieve some stress.  I’ve seen this movie several times, but I knew it would make me laugh and damn it, that is what I needed.  It’s the Bad News Bears.  It is completely inappropriate, but funny as shit.   I’ve seen them all, but the newest one with Billy Bob Thornton is hilarious and a must see!

Last Day

I’ve been in survival mode for about 2 or 3 months now.  I didn’t think that I was going to make it out alive, but I did.  I’m looking forward to next year.

I think today was the longest last days in the history of last days.  I think it was about 900 degrees outside, so field day was short and sweet.   My favorite was tug of war.  I think my team won like 3 or 4 times.  I also enjoyed watching the “jump the creek” game.  Some of those kids can jump really far!

I told the sub for our inclusion teacher, that today was going to be an easy and fun day.  At 3:00, she told me that I lied to her!  I had to laugh.  She was right.  Nothing about today was easy.  Especially, when I had to say goodbye to some of my students that I know are moving away or going on to middle school.

I took some pictures of t-shirts in all the chaos.

This girl made me take her picture.  I guess she wanted to be part of the fun.

Henry was crying when I got home.  He doesn’t want school to be over.  He said that this was his best school year ever.

sleeeeep

I’m so tired, but I feel the need to post this.  I told the boys to get out of my room tonight.  I needed some quiet time to myself.   After about an hour, I opened the door to this…..

LONG ASS DAY

I started the day with a 7 am dentist appointment.  Henry chipped both of his front teeth yesterday and refused to go to school until they were fixed.  I don’t blame him.  He did look pretty ridiculous.

I sat in on some interviews today.  Finding the right people for the job is a stressful thing to me.  I kinda just want to sit and listen and not make any decisions.  I guess that means that no one person stood out and made me want to jump up and down and scream,  YOU HAVE TO HIRE THAT PERSON.

The twins did something today that I have never done in my entire life.  They got a manicure!  I think this has something to do with the mini-economy that is going on at their school.  All I could get out of them was that a girl from another class painted their nails for $3 in Monkey Money.

I went to two graduations today.  Our Fairview Kindergarteners and Harrison’s 8th grade graduation.  They were both fun and lots of screaming took place. I can’t believe that I’m going to have a kid that is in high school.

The students were crazy wild today.  I took lots of great pictures of t-shirts today. I’ll be posting them soon.  2 more days..  2 more days…

T-Shirts

So, I’ve been taking pictures of t-shirts at school for awhile now.  The shirts that these kids wear to school today crack me up.  I’ve been advised to post one at a time, but I’m not really that good at following directions…..

These are in no particular order.

This is kinda hard to read.

Four Stages of Life
1.  You believe in Santa
2.  You believe Santa is fake
3.  You play Santa
4.  You look like Santa

One of my faves…….

6th grader….

This girl has the boys in my class going CRAZY!

Little 2nd grader...

This one says, WARNING!  Mouth Operates Faster than Brain.  (so true)

3 more days.  I’m going to have my camera ready.  There will be more to come!!!
