18 freakin days

I am struggling to make it to the last day of school.
I wonder who else feels like this?
I hear the bell ringing.
I see lots of emails.
I want Istep to be over.
I am struggling to make it to the last day of school.

I pretend that we are an A school.
I feel proud of my students.
I touch my ipad.
I worry about test scores.
I cried when I found out that one student missed passing a test by 4 points.
I am struggling to make it to the last day of school.

I understand that there are only 18 days of school left.
I say, "May 28th can't get here fast enough."
I dream that it's 4:00 on May 28th.
I try to remain calm.
I am struggling to make it to the last day of school.

I swear I taught this kid how to tell time!

Baseball's Back

Baseball started yesterday and Henry had a great day!  He pitched a little and got hit by a pitch.  I can't wait to watch him play this season.

He's playing for the Washington Nationals this year.  I won't be buying Nationals gear to wear, but it's fun saying, Let's GO NATS!  Watching Henry's game reminded me of how much I love this game.  I wish the Cubs didn't suck so much.

Day 7 of my low carb life

So, I cheated twice this week.  A few days ago, I had ice cream with my boys and yesterday, I ate French toast. The French toast made me so sick. I haven't eaten since.

My energy level is still pretty low, but I can feel that I've lost weight. My clothes are starting to fit again. My urine was a very strange color yesterday, so I googled that craziness right away.  Apparently, my body is burning fat for energy and that is a great thing!

The weekend has been kind of yucky with the boys.  Henry kicked off Friday night by vomiting up his school lunch and then we got a call from the doc on Saturday morning about Henry's spot on his belly. They cultured it and it grew into a bacterial organism.  Hayden has it too, of course.  The doc thinks they picked it up in the hot tub in Florida. Henry's spot is gross, but Hayden with his bad eczema, has a much worse case.

I dropped the boys with their dad and tried to make the most of what was left of Saturday.  My mom and I took a long walk and then I got a haircut and a pedicure.  Now, I just need my stomach to calm down from the French toast that I ate on Saturday morning, so that I can eat again.

carb challenge

When I went to the doctor last week for my ear, I found out that I weigh about what I weighed two months before my twins were born.  Yep.  Last time I was this heavy, I had 2 people inside of me.  TWO PEOPLE!!!  So, I'm doing the 30 day carb challenge.  It's the end of day 2 and I haven't freaked out yet.  I've eaten a lot of eggs and cheese.  I went shopping tonight and bought more eggs and cheese.  Today, I found out that I can have pickles.  That's pretty exciting....

I was pretty out of it today at school.  I had very little energy and I was freezing most of the day. This feeling is supposed to pass in about a week.  I need to start eating a bunch of vegetables to balance out the meat and cheese that I'm inhaling.   I've eaten some nuts, a few oranges, cottage cheese, and carrots, so my body isn't completely carb free.  That's probably why I haven't passed out!  These food items have some carbs, but nothing like the crap that I have been eating.  I'm going to finish this challenge and hopefully my summer clothes will fit!

Home Again

My ear hurts and my cough won't go away.  I hate it when my ear hurts. Hayden was up coughing all night last night.  I know this because I was up too.   We are both going to the doctor today.  He begged me to let him go to school today.  His class was going to Camp Emma Lou and he didn't want to miss it.

My life is all about schedules right now.  I'm still waiting on one more softball schedule.  I rely on my phone to tell me where to be every minute of every day.

Maps

I took yesterday off, so today was Monday.....   The kids were a little crazy, but I think it's a full moon soon.

We made some maps in 3rd grade today.  I had fun helping the students out with this task.   I showed several examples of the maps and gave the students several choices to accomplish their goal.  The 3rd graders seem to love choices.  Sometimes, the choices are a little too much for the students to handle, but I let them take the chance.  Most of them quickly choose the easiest choice, but some like a challenge.  I took a lot of pictures today.

And then we all went to Upland.  We had a great time with friends and my boys.  Harrison showed up at then end of the night and that made things all the more better.  Some days have a happy ending.

Sore Throat Sunday

This sore throat is ruining my day.   I think it's allergies, but a kid in my class had strep last week, so there's that.

I have softball practice later today and now I'm just going to stop by and sign the roster. I really wanted to beat on the softball a little today.

Hayden and Henry started soccer yesterday. They have a good team. York is helping me coach because I have no idea how to coach soccer and the Cutters organization couldn't find coaches.  They talked their friend Titus into playing.  Titus doesn't really like sports, especially the organized kind.  The boys are all on the same team for the first time since they were around 4 years old.  This should be a fun season.

Purple Belt

I watched my niece get her purple belt tonight in Kenpo.  It's a lot like Taekwondo and while I was watching her perform all the memories of watching Harrison practice came flooding back.  I really miss those days.  He would practice 3 times a week and after Saturday morning practice, I would take him to the Bakehouse by the mall.  It was nice because it was always just the two of us.  Then one day, he decided to quit.  I think he made it to his purple-white belt and stopped.  I was so disappointed, but football and track practice got in the way and the twins were getting older.  I redirected my energy and moved forward.

Sydney was great tonight.  She broke a board and really knew her stuff.  She's on her way to being a black belt.

We ate at the House of Tokyo after the purple belt test.  It only took about 30 minutes to order all of the food, but it was worth it.  Great night with my family.

Field Trip

I'm taking tomorrow off to go to Leonard Springs with my boys.  It's supposed to rain and it rained all day today, so it's going to be a muddy mess. Good thing I love this kind of stuff!  35 days of elementary school left.

Hayden

The boys have to read 5 of the Young Hoosier Book Award books before May 1st.  I downloaded a few on Henry's ipad and he quickly read them, but Hayden refused to even let me put iBooks on his ipad.  grrrrrr.....  So, I borrowed Henry's ipad and we are reading Michael Vey Prisoner of Cell 25.  We read about 30 pages a night and Hayden loves it.  It doesn't hurt that it's a really great story about a boy that has special powers.  We are going to read a book about the Halifax explosion next.
