Calf Strain

I injured my leg yesterday in my softball game.  It was very embarrassing because I had to be helped (carried) off of the field.  I'm sure it had something to do with the 13 miles that I ran on Saturday and I probably should not have agreed to play in 3 games.  I had several offers to be carried to my car, but thanks to Goodwoman, I was able to walk out of the park on crutches.

Henry and I cried our eyes out last night because I can't run the mini with him this Saturday now.  We have been so excited about doing this run together.  I'm sitting at home right now, hating everything.  I couldn't go to work today because I can't walk.  I've been reading about calf strains on-line and it says that I have a moderate strain and it can take up to 6 weeks to heal.  I can't deal with this.  I have to much to do right now.

I finished the Louisville run in 2:46.   I trained a lot more for the Disney run and was in much better shape in January and got 2:43.  The weather was almost exactly the same and the Louisville course was a little tougher due to the hills.  I don't get it.

Dream

I was in the middle of a great dream this morning and my stupid phone rang and woke me up. I tried going back to sleep, but of course, I couldn't.  I want need to go for a run, but I spent all day yesterday freezing my buns off at sporting events, so I'm not really that excited about going outside.  I have 2 big runs coming up and I stopped training like 5 weeks ago.  My times are going to suck, but I'm making myself go.

Hayden is really great at soccer.  It's fun to watch him play.

Hayden

One of my favorite websites is closing up shop.  Check out picnik before April 19th and you can make a cool collage like I just did.

I noticed that Hayden's super blonde hair is not as blonde as it used to be.  It was Monday night and he was walking into MC Sports.  We were there to buy soccer cleats for his first practice of the season.  I was walking behind him and I saw lots of little brown hairs mixed in with the white.  I hate that he's growing up and changing, but I guess that's all a part of this program.

Chicago Cubs

1, 2, skip a few, 99, 100.  I missed a few teams, but not many.  Great blogging idea, Pronto Pup!

According to Sports Illustrated for Kids, (Henry read this to me last night) the Cubs are expected to finish 5th in their division.  I hope they are wrong!  I'm excited to watch my team play this season.

See that big, tall, dark building to the left of the scoreboard that's in centerfield?  I used to live on the 35th floor of that building!  I used my binoculars to watch games and loved hearing the sound of screaming fans when the Cubs hit a home run or made an amazing play.  I did not want to move out of that building and I would still be living there, if the decision would have been left up to me.  When I go to Cubbie games, I always make it a point to drive by the building and reminisce.

Minnesota Twins

Apparently, Target Field is pretty amazing.  It received first place in Best Stadium Experience in 2010 by ESPN.  I'm going to have to put Target Field on my list of stadiums to visit.

Harrison did really well in his meet tonight.  He ran the 1,600, the 4 x 800 relay and then got third place in the 3,200 with a time of 10:56.  It was fun watching him run and his twin brothers were there cheering him on.  Way to go Harrison!

Anaheim Angels

I refuse to call them by their new name because it's ridiculous.   Ok.  So, guess what?  The first year that the Angels played was in 1961 and they played in Wrigley Field.  Yes, I said Wrigley Field.  Apparently, Mr. Wrigley had two Wrigley Fields, one in Chicago and one in Los Angeles and the Wrigley Field in Los Angeles came first!

The Angels only played there for one year and then the stadium was used for other events.  They filmed a lot of movies there, played some soccer games, had some famous boxing bouts, and hosted a civil rights rally where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke.

St. Louis Cardinals

I have a few friends that are Cardinals fans.  I've been to Busch Stadium a lot.  I really don't like going to Busch stadium to watch the Cubs play.  Been there, done that.  Not fun.  Don't plan on doing it ever again.  This is Harrison back in 2001.  Hey, guess what!!!  He has a Cardinals shirt on.  My friend bought it for him to wear to the game.  I don't think I have ever let the twins wear a Cardinals shirt.

Cleveland Indians

A long time ago, I had a goal of visiting all of the MLB ballparks in the country, and Canada.  I've been to quite a few.  I stopped counting, but I think I was up to 17.  Anyway, we visited Jacobs Field when Harrison was 4.  The Indians were playng the Royals that day, so of course, Harrison has on his BRAVES shirt.  Makes sense, right?

Detroit Tigers

I've been to a Tiger's game.  They were playing the Yankees that day.  That's Harrison in the picture with the yellow shorts on.  He loved the Yankees.  I think he was 7 years old and it looks like he has wearing a Cincinnati Reds shirt.  Interesting.

Boston Red Sox

I've been to Boston once.  I really loved it there.  I want to go back, but this time I want to see a game at Fenway and I want to watch someone hit a home run over the Green Monster.  I'd also like to watch a Bruins game while I'm there.  I wonder if the hockey and baseball season overlap?
