great day

Today was a lot of fun.  It was packed with dogs, friends, and family.  We started the day at the dog park.  We took Stormy to meet Perry.  Stormy loved the park and only fought with one dog. Perry.

As you can see in this picture, Perry is giving Stormy the evil eye.  Perry is a little guy, but he thinks he is tough stuff.  He was barking and acting like he was in charge or something.  The new dog park by Lake Griffy is pretty nice.  They even have a bathing area for the dogs at the exit.

My brother brought his kids down to spend the night tonight.  I only had to remind the nieces and nephew about my "no screaming in the house" rule twenty times.  I think they remember now.  I made them all stay outside until about 10 and now they are watching The Avengers.  I'm taking them swimming and to the park tomorrow.  I hope they let me sleep in.

Summer

Guess what I'm doing?  I'm eating ice cream and watching the Cubs play the White Sox!  And guess what else?  The Cubs are winning.  Summer is officially here.  I finished cleaning and organizing my room today.  Special thanks to Derloshon for helping me out!

I slept until 11 today.  I couldn't believe it.  I mean, I'm not mad, but 11?  I took Henry to the dentist to get his tooth fixed AGAIN.  That poor kid has terrible teeth.  Harrison and Hayden have never once had a cavity.  Henry has one or two every. single. time!

I'm going to go watch one of my students play baseball tonight.  I'm pretty excited about this.  I'm meeting up with a bunch of my students next week to go skating.  These little people think they can out skate me.  pshhh   I hope I don't break my hip proving a point.

Tonight is game 7 of  the Blackhawks vs. Red Wings.  Let's go HAWKS!!!

Cleaning

I cleaned like a mad woman today.  I got most of it done, but I'm organizing as I go this time, so it's taking forever.  I need a system for organizing my stuff.  I am TERRIBLE at this.  I should just hire someone to help me with this part of my life.

Summer school is happening at my school this year and I'm a little freaked out about people touching my stuff.  I packed everything away and I'm going to lock up my cabinets.  I'm crossing my fingers that nothing gets stolen or broken.

Hayden made this silly video about a straw today at lunch.  Enjoy...

Lazy Day

I've spent most of the day in bed.  I think I'm starting to smell weird.  I've been watching movies and searching for a new recipe to try.  I came across this amazing art teacher's website.   He had a line with shading project on his website that I wanted to try.   It took a couple of hours and my arm started to cramp!  I need to get back to the gym.

I started to make one for Memorial Day.

All the white was a little too boring for me, so I colored it in.  I need to make another one that shows pinching off in the picture.  Those skinny little lines on the right have to go!

My boys brought home a ton of extra art supplies on the last day of school.   They told me that kids were just throwing perfectly good supplies away and they were digging them out of the trash for me!  The art tub that we have at home is full again and I'm pretty excited about this!

Now back to looking for a recipe!!! Or making another line with shading piece.  Hmmm....

To Do List

I don't think my "to do" list has ever been as long as it is right now. I have lists taped everywhere:  my computer, my cabinets at work, my fridge, my car, my phone, I even write some some things on my hand!  I'm exhausted and I sleep every minute that I get the chance.

I'm worried about this summer.  It's packed.  I have everything on my phone, but sometimes, my phone doesn't give me enough notice to get things done or help me plan!  Stupid phone.

Things that I'm looking forward to this summer...

June 1  Henry has baseball camp in Terre Haute
June 5  Bloomington North Track and Field banquet
June 10-14 Wonderlab Science training 9-4
June 30  Start of Dexter season 8 and baby Njau's birthday party!!!

July 7-12  Hockey camp for twins in Ohio
July 19 Train Concert
July 20 Soccer tournament
July 22- 24 Learning Summit
July 26  E-learning presentation

I feel a little better just typing that all out.  It doesn't seem so scary now, just typed there in that teeny tiny space.   I mean there's baseball, softball, and soccer games, birthday parties, cookouts, but that's all the fun stuff.  I'll be ok.  Everything will get done.  I hope.

I'm watching IU play Nebraska for the Big Ten championship right now!  I'm having fun texting Heise back and forth.  Her Cornhuskers beat us last night, so it forced another game.  The Hoosiers are already in the NCAA tournament, but we will have a great seed, if we win this game!

Mother's Day

I have one of the best moms in the world.  She let me be who I wanted to be when I was little.  I sometimes played with baby dolls, but mostly I played outside in the dirt, with my shirt off.  I was a tough little kid that never sat still.

I'm pretty sure that when my parents put up that fancy 1970 aluminum swing set in our backyard, they meant for me to swing on it, but I had other plans.  I climbed it like a little monkey and walked across the top of it.

I was always begging her to sign me up for something, mostly baseball and softball.  She took me to all of my practices and games and she still takes me to games!

She has taught me how to be strong and make it through life's tough patches.  She has always pulled herself up by her own bootstraps because there was no other way to make it.  She's a great person that will give you the shirt off of her own back, if you need it.

I love my mom because she loves me for who I am.  She is there for me when I need her and I hope to be like her someday because that is the best kind of mom in the world to be.
