sandals

Henry left his shoes in his dad’s car yesterday.  So, when practice was over, he had two choices; my tennis shoes or Harrison’s sandals.  He wore the sandals proudly all around the mall.  The girl in the Lids store asked about them.  I told her that they were his older brothers shoes and Henry said, “yeah, I feel like a wild animal in them.”  That kid is hilarious.

sleep

I love that when Hayden gets tired, he just goes to bed and falls asleep.  He doesn’t wander around the house looking for things to whine about or ask for food or countless cups of water.  I’m not going to mention any names here, but the kid that is guilty of doing those annoying things, his name starts with an H.

Back to Hayden.  I love the way he deals with life.  Hardly anything bothers this kid.  He’s always smiling and happy about something.  Tonight, he was running around in his underwear telling me all about his day.  He’s reading the book Chocolate Fever at school.  He thinks it’s pretty cool that the main character’s name is Henry.  He is also obsessed about Cow Ants???  He was googling them last night and tonight.  I’m not sure who told him about these things, but they are kinda gross.

final countdown

The 4th, 5th and 6th graders are gearing up for their big end of the year play.  This year it’s Joust!  In my opinion, our music teacher puts on the best elementary school plays in town.  The practices have been super intense.  She has really high expectations for these kids and they step up to the challenge year after year.  I’m always amazed at how good they are.

I have a sore throat.  I can’t believe that I’m sick again.  I really don’t see how this is fair.

Henry made this and told me to take a picture of it and put it on my blog.  I think he needs to start his own blog.

run

I went for a long run today.  I hope it is the first of many.  I need to start doing something.  I’m completely out of shape.

I watched the Cubs beat the Red Sox last night.  I hope they do it again tonight!  They haven’t played them since 1918.   It was throwback uniform night and man, those uniforms were ugly!

movies and stuff

Went to see the movie Bridesmaids with Goodwoman.  OMG..  It is a must see.  I laughed almost non-stop throughout the entire movie.

I actually got to play softball tonight and it was not raining or sprinkling.  I had to pitch.  I don’t usually pitch for this team, so I wasn’t ready and my Sunday team that I normally pitch for, hasn’t played in like a month or so.  So, I SUCKED!!!!!!!   I did get a couple of nice hits, but we lost.

13 days of school to go!  I am going to miss these kids.  They are a fun and crazy group.

track

Harrison had his last track meet tonight.  He placed 2nd in the 1600 with a time of 5:18, but the real news is that his 4 x 800 relay team beat the Tri North record in a time of 9:44.  They had been trying to beat this time all season and they finally did it tonight.  I’m kinda sad that track is over.

I rode out to the Causeway yesterday.  It was about 40 miles there and back.  It rained for most of the ride, but it was still fun.  I’m trying to get ready for our trip to the Dunes this summer.  My hip is a little sore from the ride, but mostly I feel ok.  The water was up to the road, but not over the road.  The road that is under water is on the other side of Bloomington, close to the dam, but it was still pretty cool.  I’ve never seen the water this high.

I signed up for the Disney Half-Marathon run yesterday.  Harrison is running it with me.  My crazy mother is running the full with her friend.  I swore that I would never go back to Disney World.  Guess, I should take my own advice and NEVER use the word never!  I just looked up my old times for the Disney runs.  I won’t even get close to these times, unless I train hard core.  Maybe, I can hire Harrison to be my personal trainer.

the bike ride

I went on a bike ride with the twins and my mom yesterday.  My mom told me that she couldn’t remember how to ride a bike.  This coming from a woman who rode a motorcycle for years.  I gave her a quick demonstration on how to take off, put my helmet on her and gave her a big push.  She screamed and the twins started chasing her on their rollerblades.  She made it down the street and back, but couldn’t remember how to stop.  So, I jumped in front of the bike and held on to the handlebars until she put her foot down.

Even though my gut was telling me to not take her on a bike ride, I did it anyway.  We all took off and mom was shaky.  She could barely keep up with us, so we rode slowly.  She came to a turn that made her nervous, so she decided to just “crash” the bike into the soft grass.  I turned around and she was laying in someone’s yard.  The people just happened to be outside and they were running over to see if she was ok.  It was time to go home.

I’m biking out to the Causeway today, BY MYSELF!  The lake water is up so high that it is washing over the road and I want to see this.

cubs

I watched the Cubs beat the Reds today.  It was a very exciting game.  We came back and won it in the bottom of the 9th in dramatic fashion.  Henry and Hayden watched with me.  This game started at one o’clock in the afternoon and I didn’t count, but I bet we had to watch at least 10 Viagra commercials.  The boys didn’t ask what Viagra was, but I was on edge every time one came on.  I changed the channel during one of them and Henry screamed, “what are you doing?!?”   I talked through most of them because at this age, they are easily distracted, but come on!!  Why do they have to air these during the middle of the day?  Isn’t there another company out there willing to pay to promote their product during this time?  Someone needs to step up to the plate!

stormy

Poor Stormy.  She had to stay at the vet all day yesterday.  This is the second time this year that she has had to be put under and sewn up.  It costs way more to sew her up than it does the boys, for some reason.  Maybe I should look into buying some doggie insurance for her.

I took a picture of her shoulder before she went to the vet, but I think it’s a little too graphic to post.

headache

I have had a headache since 9:30 this morning.  It won’t go away.  It has calmed down quite a bit, but I still have it.  I’ve taken more advil today than I took all last week.

Harrison ran in the middle school city track meet tonight.  He ran the mile in 5:14 and took 4th place.  This is 16 seconds faster than his PR time in a meet.  I was so proud of him.  He also ran the 800 and took 5th place.  He is now talking about running cross country in high school instead of football.  I really hope that he chooses to run instead of playing football.  I love football, but I would rather watch that kid run.

Stormy has a horrible injury to her shoulder.  I’m pretty sure that I can see her bone, but I’ve been told that it’s only her muscle.  OK…  Well, muscle, bone, whatever.  There is a freaking hole in her shoulder and no one knows how it got there.  She is going to the vet first thing in the morning.

I saw this tree on the Butler campus.  I sat and watched the clouds move behind it for a long time.  It was really a calm and beautiful sight.

Harrison and I are watching The Hurt Locker now.  I’ve been wanting to watch this movie for awhile now.  I’m hoping it helps with the headache situation.

chucks

I have these two girls in my class that get on my last nerve, but I love them dearly.  They are BFF’s and they talk constantly.  I didn’t know human beings could talk this much.  Girl #1 wore her new purple Chucks on Friday and girl #2 wore her new red chucks to school today.  Well, it took them about five minutes to switch shoes and become the coolest BFF’s on the planet!

I wish I would have had a cool BFF in elementary school.  I wasn’t very good at making friends when I was little.  It also didn’t help that I went to five different elementary schools.

tick

I found a tick crawling in my bed this morning and I have been freaking out about it all day.  I’ve checked the twin’s heads several times and my head has been checked five times now.  I hate ticks.  I found one on the back of my leg when I was 12 and I’ve been freaked out by them ever since.

On a lighter note, Harrison has two meets this week.  I’m hoping that the monsoon type weather that we are having right now, will just go away!  The city meet is this Thursday and I’m really looking forward to it.

And maybe one of these days, Hayden will have another soccer game!
