the gym

Joined the Iron Pit today.  Well, I rejoined.  I haven't been since last year around this time.  I worked out for about an hour.  It felt pretty good.  I thought it might motivate me to get something done, but I have done nothing but lay in bed all day.  I have a million things to do and I have not done one of them.

I did watch the movie Southbounders.  It's about a woman who hikes the Appalachian Trail before she starts medical school.  The movie was ok.   I really want to hike this trail one day.  It is 2,170 from Maine to Georgia.  I always dreamed of starting in Georgia and hiking North, but after watching the movie, I'm thinking about starting in Maine.

movie

The movie didn't work.   I'm trying again.

Minivan

So, I was walking into Target today with Henry and he says to me, "when I grow up, I'm buying a minivan."  I said, "really?  Boys usually want hot-rod type cars, like mustangs or something fast....."  He said, "nope, I want a mini-van."  Man that kid is weird.

I gave the twins touch ipods this year.  They love them.  They each bought a movie to put on them.  Henry bought Cars and Hayden bought Finding Nemo.

I was trying to put Henry's movie onto his itouch, but it kept telling me "not enough space."  I took off a bunch of silly apps that he didn't need and a few short Pixar movies, but it still wasn't enough space.  I finally realized that he had taken 59 pictures with his new itouch, mostly of himself!!   Here are a few of my favorites....

And he made a little movie.....

Christmas was good, but I'm so glad that it's over.  Does that mean that I enjoyed it?  I don't know.

Grinch

The Grinch is on.  First the cartoon, now the movie.  The Grinch is cool.  Dr. Seuss is a genius.  How the Grinch Stole Christmas was first published in 1957.  Wow!  Is it a Masterwork???  I hope so!

I'm taking the twins and their cousin to see the Yogi Bear movie tomorrow.  It didn't get very good reviews, but that is what they want to see.....  I'd like to see the movie Love and Other Drugs, but who asked me?

I bought a couple of books yesterday.  I read one of them already.  It was the new Sedaris book.  It was ok, definitely not my favorite.

We are supposed to get a bunch of snow in the next couple of days.  I'm going sledding.

Harrison helped me make cookies today.  That was my highlight.

2 more days.  I think I can see the light.

ESPN

I'm going to ramble, so if you are bored..... read on.

The twins and I spent the night at my mom's house last night.  She has ESPN and I DO NOT. (not fair)  It was Monday, so I got to watch Monday Night Football for the first time this season.  I was in heaven and I love the Chicago Bears, so it was nice to see them beat up on the Vikings.

I have a new peppermint vanilla candle and it smells so good.   It is an aroma soy candle.  Bought it at target.  I might go back and get another one.

I have a dilema.  Henry has 2 more gifts than Henry.  I'm still trying to figure out how this happened.  I know how to count and Hayden was way better than Henry this year!  So, back out into holiday hell I go.  ugh.....

I made dentist appointments for everyone tomorrow. Yes, that's how much I love my children.  Dentist appointments during their Christmas break.  HA HA HA HA  Hey, clean teeth are important!  I made them 6 months ago and Harrison has wrestling practice at the same time! WTH?

I've decided to start running again.  I want to train for a mudathlon.  This looks like more fun than should be allowed.  June 25th!  Sounds like a great birthday present to myself!  I think Harrison is going to run it with me.  I'm going to look for a few more crazy people to join me :)

4 days til Christmas.  Hope everyone is buckling down.

Shopping

Yesterday was packed with back to back activities.  Woke up early to take Henry and Hayden to the ice rink.  We always get donuts after an early morning Saturday practice.  It's called motivation!  Crescent Donut is amazing!

Then, back to the ice to skate with Santa!!!!  Susanne and Kurt brought Mira.  It was the best part of my day.

I watched Eli and Isaiah play hockey.  They played a team from Ohio.   Jill and I decided that we should never go to Ohio together.  It would "not be positive!"

After all that, I headed to Edinburgh to shop with Lora.  We shopped for hours.  Now, my children have something to open this Saturday.  They have been pretty good this year, so I did the right thing.  I spent a lot of money though.  Hope they like their presents.

snow day

I really didn't want a snow day.  I wanted a 2 hour delay!!!  I don't like making all these days up in JUNE.  Also, I wanted to do some activities with my students today.  We will have to cram it all in tomorrow now.

So, I'm going to take the twins sledding.  Harrison does not want to go with us, of course.  I took this picture of Harrison when he was in the 6th grade.

I think Hayden has been outside rolling in the snow for an hour now.  It's time to pack everything up and head to Tri North.

Saturday

I slept a ton last night.  I needed it!  I love to sleep.  I love naps.  I went ice skating with the twins today.  It was so fun.  I played tag with a bunch of their friends.

I really wish that I could relax and enjoy the holidays.  I'm trying to remember the last time that I enjoyed this time of year.  I think I was ten, maybe?   I get so stressed out.  A couple of years ago, I got so excited because I found this really cool gift for a friend of mine.  The friend did not think the gift was as cool as I did.  In fact, the friend got really mad at ME for thinking that the gift was such a great find!  I'm not really friends with that person anymore, but the point is, I stink at this.  I can't do anything right during this time of the year.

I remember ONE gift that I enjoyed receiving in the past 10 years.  It wasn't actually anything that I could hold in my hand.  It's kind of hard to describe.  It was a thought, an idea.  It never came true, but I do remember being so happy about that thought.

Monday

Why does Monday always have to be the bad guy?  Does anything good ever happen on Monday?  I need to start running again to relieve some stress.

Tuesday is usually my favorite day of the week, but instead, I get to say goodbye to one of my favorite people.  I have to take my son to the eye doctor because he needs glasses AND my other favorite IU student can't come in!  This week is not looking good.

Have I mentioned that it is freezing outside?  And that I'm so ready for the holiday season to be over!

TGIF

Wow!  This was a long week.  It had a great ending though!  The twins played their first house hockey game tonight and Henry scored a GOAL!  Hayden played amazing defense and almost scored twice.  They are on Team T-REX.  They have really cool jerseys!

I still can not believe how much I love watching them play hockey.  Their big brother Harrison even came to watch them play tonight.  I'm pretty sure that he was impressed.

hockey

I'm watching my boys play hockey right now.  I think I love watching them play hockey more than any other sport.  Which is weird, because I love baseball.  I think I love the fact that they can't wait to get to practice and they smile the entire time that they are out on the ice.  I mean, really, look at that smile!

back to work

The first day back to school after a break is always hard.  I spent the entire day reminding the students of the rules.  I only sent one kid to ISD today.  She is one of my fave's but something had to be done.  She was driving me bonkers....

I miss Chicago.

Chicago

Having a blast with the twins and my mom in Chicago.  I watched the twins skate for hours downtown.  Then we visited the Shedd, Navy Pier and went up the Sears (Willis) Tower.  I got to see my good friend Patti and eat my favorite deep dish pizza!  This is the best Christmas present ever!

First Post Ever

So, my friend Lee, set this BLOG up for me to post podcasts on.  And we couldn't figure out how....  So, I've secretly always wanted a place to BLOG.  And OH BTW, Blog is a new word.  My students just read the book Frindle, which they loved, and it taught them all about words and their origins and how new words get invented.  We are making a podcast about it and if I figure it out, I will post it here!!!
