Big Class

I've been complaining about the 27 kids that I have in my class this year.  I've told everyone that will listen, that it's the biggest class that I've had in 10 years.  One of my little third graders walked up to me and said, "it's not that bad, last year, there were 33 kids in my class."  And Piper has 28 kindergarteners in her class this year.  At least, my third graders know how to function and wipe their own butts!

So, I power on.  My class is good, mostly.  I have a few challenges this year, but let's be honest, I would be bored without them.

Here is the stressor this year..

 I feel a lot of pressure to make sure that everyone has a super, great year.

One little girl that I thought was going to be my biggest challenge, has turned into my fave.  Her mom told me that she could not wait to be in my class and I was like, uh huh.....  And then, here she is, being awesome sauce!  We wrote about our best day ever the other day, and she wrote about the day she met me!  She was in my success group last year as a second grader.  She's really smart and now she's my BFF.

Things that I didn't get to do this summer.....

I didn't get to swim with dolphins.  I didn't get to go to Wrigley Field and watch the Cubs play.  I didn't go to Indianapolis and see The Funky Bones and I didn't go to a yoga class! 

But I did get to go to Key West and I got to see an alligator.  He was swimming so close to me!  I did get to see the Miami Marlins play the Cardinals.  The Cardinals won!  I did see the Wynwood Walls in Miami.  I really loved the murals.  The graffiti is outstanding.  And I did play in a lot of softball games.  It has been a pretty great summer. 

I still have a lot to do this summer and this includes setting up my classroom!  I'm starting this Sunday.
